Spring 2018 Trend: Snakeskin

Posted by Abram Mendal on May 9, 2018 11:28:47 AM

For years, the most popular animal print in fashion has been leopard. High-end designers have transformed this, at times, kitschy trend into a luxury staple in the form of any and all ready-to-wear and accessory items (from coats, to blouses, to handbags and more). The print has taken over their runways and trickled down to the streets—landing on some of the most recognizable street style stars from Giovanna Battaglia to Bella Hadid. For the fun, urban, club girl, leopard is it… but where is the more polished woman to turn if she wants to tap into an animal print for a day at the office?

This spring, the European runways steered away from the more festive leopard and led their working women towards another exotic material - snakeskin - in an effort to elevate their tailored looks for a work day. Leading the pack were, of course, the Italians (who were arguably the ones to put leopard on the map in the luxury sphere) and a few of the French brands followed suit (Chloé).
